Children’s Institute

How It Began

History of the Children’s Institute

When participants in one of Russia’s first Basic Seminars brought their young children with them to the seminar, IBLP staff wondered how to welcome these 400 unexpected children, many of whom were as excited to attend and learn as their parents!

The staff quickly “created” a curriculum using nature stories, object lessons, and team-building activities to teach these impromptu guests about God’s love, His character, and His principles. Thus, the Children’s Institute was born!

Since that first Moscow seminar in the fall of 1992, the ministry of the Children’s Institute has expanded to more than 150 cities in the U.S. and abroad, spanning 13 countries, and has served over 90,000 children. As the Children’s Institute outreach broadens, its purposes remain constant: to turn the hearts of children toward their parents (see Malachi 4:6) and to assist parents in building strong families.
